Materials Testing Institute (MTI) guarantees that the works are carried out with the necessary degree of care of an experienced expert.

Publications, Copies of results (reports, expertise etc.) need approval of Polytechnic of Namibia.  All third parties have to be named if Polytechnic so requires.

  • MTI will require advance payment for services of high amount and/or which are time consuming.  It will be 40% of the total costs as a rule. Part payments may also be required at adequate time periods.
  • Client receives a final bill together with the results when works are completed.
  • Advance payments and part payments have to be paid within two weeks and final bill within 30 days to:

  • Polytechnic of Namibia charges 6% interest if client falls into arrears with payments.

MTI charges prime costs for services which cannot be charged according to fixed payments.  Prime costs are only charged for the time which the personnel involved needs for order in question. Special provisions are quoted in tender for extraordinary deployment of equipment and personnel.

Cost rate per km without driver

  • Motorcar up to 2000 cm3:                    N$5-00
  • Motorcar up to 2000 to 2500 cm3:       N$6-00
  • Motorcar greater than 2500 cm3:          N$7-00

Actual costs for traveling (air, rail etc.) and for overnight accommodation are charged; also an additional fee of N$350-00 per person per day.

  • The Namibia University of Science and Technology, through MTI may accept orders for expertise, testing etc. against payment according to its capacity.
  • Acceptance of an order will be confirmed in writing.  Clients will also be informed how the unused samples in the testing proceedings not destroyed are handled.
